MANAGEMENT

The success of every project depends on good management practices. Good management stems from best practices in Project Management (such as Planning, Execution and Control) and in the choice of the right development methodology as defined by the PMI (Project Management Institute). We address the best practice in Project Management with a set of PMP-certified project managers who have experience in managing both small and large complex projects.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGY

When the project management is of high caliber, the next decision point is in the development methodology that should be utilized to meet the needs of the client nad project timeline. We are experienced with a traditional waterfall SDLC as well as an iterative development methodology such as AGILE. The choice of which methodology is used is always dictated by the needs of the client (requirements), budget, schedule and resources.

CHOICES

SAI has shown the flexibility in past projects to use the best choices to meet the customers need. We have worked in the past to include Outsourcing, Off-shoring and Partnerships to the best effect. We have also experience in working with diverse teams, often involving organizational and geographic constraints. Possibilities for engagements include:

  1. Outsourcing - Working with SAIC to determine scope, deliverables, a timeline and then handing off the work for SAIC to complete and deliver a completed project, with deliverables, documentation and training (if necessary). Can either be a fixed-price contract or T&E if client resources are involved as well.
  2. Offshoring - Working with SAIC to use SAIC offshore development resources in India to complete the tasks at a lower cost with local Project Management and representation.
  3. Partnering - Working with SAIC and some of its partners to accomplish the project goals. Most commonly used to combine different areas of expertise that SAIC alone may not have.

CASE STUDY: Fortune 100 Bank

Leasing, Credit Application

SAI initially was requested to provide our Project Management expertise for the US Bancorp project in the installation of their new leasing credit system, but as we engaged with the client, we were requested to extend our purview to the offshore development team. Additionally, we were working with developers in both Minneapolis and in Boston.
The scope of the work was for the installation of the back end system which provided a rules based credit scoring system for business leases and equipment leasing. Additionally, work was performed to build a User Interface. SAI used the waterfall methodology for the backend system and installation and a iterative development methodology for the GUI.
